I believe in God because he is not only the creator of all lfe, he is also interested in each and every human life and passionately loves every single human being, even those who seem the least lovable - even those who hate him or mock him. After I had tried to find some meaning to my life, attempted suicide, messed around with drugs and drank too much, he saved my life in a car accident, showed me that he loved me and is interested in me personally and that my life does have meaning - my life was not an accident. He has allowed me to fulfill every dream I had, including adopting a beautiful daughter, returning to university to catch up on the education I missed during my youth, and doing my dream job. The most profound thing He has done, though, is to give me a heart of compassion for those who suffer. I was completely wrapped up in myself and my unmet emotional needs, and once God started to fulfill those needs I was able to look outside myself and begin to care about others. He's not finished with me yet, and I haven't stopped dreaming yet either!I work as an interpreter, have always loved languages. I grew up in the US in a very dysfunctional family situation: my mother was mentally ill and my father had been in prison. They divorced when I was a baby and my mother and I were very poor, sometimes living in run-down motels when she was between jobs. I grew up very fearful, with much abuse and violence.
